Maddie Miller - a Senior at Newport High School - is heading a project in our community to have donations of cards and letters mailed to Woodlawn Care Center in Newport. At time of recording, Woodlawn had announced 22 of their residents in the care home have been infected with Covid 19. Maddie had worked at Woodlawn this summer, and has a personal connection to one who is infected, though she wants to help as many as possible. Her request is for as many students in the Newport School System, and people in our community, to take the time to write a letter for those who are infected. She talked about the short staff at Woodlawn, her wanting to go back to work there to help but is unable to because of school and more. We also talked about her school's HOSA event this Friday, what they are raising money for, and who can attend.
